The California Insurance Guarantee Association (CIGA) is an organization created by the California Legislature in 1969 to pay claims of insolvent insurance carriers that are licensed to do business in the state of California. Management of CIGA claims requires specialized knowledge of the legal requirements that apply uniquely to CIGA claims. It has specialized training every two years for those involved in CIGA litigation.  Admission to these courses requires written approval of CIGA management.
